Cookie policy

Last updated October 27, 2026

This page explains how cookies and similar technologies are used on GymStarterGuide, and how you can control them. For the bigger picture of how we handle data, see our privacy policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Similar technologies, such as local storage and device identifiers, do the same kind of job. Some are essential for a site to work. Others remember your choices, measure how a site is used, or show you advertising.

What this website uses itself

GymStarterGuide does not set analytics, tracking or marketing cookies of its own, and it does not use your browser’s local storage. The calculator and tools run on your device and do not save what you type.

Advertising cookies from Google

Our ads are served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and to other sites on the internet.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message from Google’s certified consent tool asks you whether to allow cookies and personalised ads. You can accept, decline or manage your options. You can change your choice later using the privacy settings link or message that the tool provides on our pages. If you decline personalised ads, you may still see ads that are not based on your past browsing.

How to control cookies and ads

  • Ads Settings. Switch off personalised ads in your Google Ads Settings.
  • Industry opt-out. Opt out of interest-based ads from many companies at once with aboutads.info/choices in the US, or Your Online Choices in Europe.
  • Your browser. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Look in its settings under privacy. Blocking all cookies may stop some websites from working properly, but GymStarterGuide’s tools will still work.
  • Mobile devices. Both Android and iOS let you reset your advertising identifier or limit ad tracking in the privacy settings.

Changes

If we add new tools that use cookies, such as analytics, we will update this page and, where the law requires, ask for your consent first. Questions? Email hello@thegymstarterguide.com.
