Privacy policy

Last updated October 27, 2026

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains in plain language what happens to your information when you use GymStarterGuide (thegymstarterguide.com). We have kept the website simple on purpose: there are no accounts, no sign-up forms and no comment sections.

The short version

  • Anything you type into our calculator or planner stays in your browser. We never receive it and we do not store it.
  • We do not run analytics or tracking tools of our own.
  • Our website host processes technical data, such as your IP address, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
  • Advertising is provided by Google AdSense, which may use cookies and similar technologies. Where the law requires it, you will be asked for your consent first.
  • If you email us, we use your message only to reply to you.

Who is responsible for your data

GymStarterGuide is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us at hello@thegymstarterguide.com.

What we collect and why

WhatWhyLegal basis
Technical data (IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested, date and time) in our host’s server logsTo deliver the website, keep it secure and prevent abuseLegitimate interests
Emails you send us, including your address and anything you writeTo answer your message and to keep a record of correctionsLegitimate interests, or steps you ask us to take
Advertising data collected by Google and its partners (cookie and device identifiers, IP address, pages viewed)To show and measure advertising that pays for the siteYour consent where required (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland), otherwise legitimate interests

We do not ask you for your name, age, weight or any health information. The calculator and the strength-level tool work out their results on your device. The numbers you type are not sent to us or anyone else, and they disappear when you close or refresh the page.

Who we share data with

  • Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the website and delivers it quickly and safely. It also forwards emails sent to our address. It processes technical data such as IP addresses on our behalf. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for details.
  • Google (AdSense). Google serves and measures the ads on our pages and acts as an independent controller of the data it collects through advertising cookies and similar technologies. Learn how Google uses data when you use sites that use its services in Google’s partner sites page.

We do not sell your personal data for money, and we do not share it with anyone else except where the law requires it.

Cookies and advertising choices

Our cookie policy explains which cookies are used and how to change your choices, including how to opt out of personalised advertising.

International transfers

Cloudflare and Google operate worldwide, so your data may be processed outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, these providers rely on safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision, as they describe in their own policies.

How long we keep data

Server logs are kept by our host for a short period, as set by the host’s own settings. We keep emails for as long as we need them to deal with your message, and normally delete them within 12 months. Data collected by Google for advertising is kept according to Google’s policies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct data that is wrong, or to delete it;
  • ask us to restrict how we use your data, or object to it;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting what happened before.

To use any of these rights, email hello@thegymstarterguide.com. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority. In Italy, this is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, and in the UK it is the Information Commissioner’s Office. If you live in a US state that has a privacy law, you may also have the right to opt out of targeted advertising, which you can do with the tools in our cookie policy.

Children

GymStarterGuide is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, please tell us and we will delete it.

Security

We use HTTPS on the whole website and rely on our host’s security. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we collect to a minimum so there is little to lose.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and we will make important changes easy to see.
